Working together as a family is said to be a tough endeavor, especially when the success is recognized. Such is the case of the Sios, the family behind Sanitary Care Products Asia (SCPA), one of 10 families bestowed the first Philippine Family Business Awards.
Held in April at the Ateneo De Manila University Escaler Hall, the recognition of successful family businesses is a joint undertaking of the country’s premier Catholic educational institution through its Family Business Development Center and Union Bank of the Philippines.
“We are truly honored to have been chosen as one of the 10 families to receive this award. But we are really not the owners of this business, we are merely stewards of what God has blessed us,” SCPA chairman and founder Renato Sio said.
“This belief naturally allowed us to realize that we have the responsibility not only to have effective and transparent business governance, but the responsibility to take good care of our employees and the rest of our stakeholders,” he added.
SCPA was conceived in 1996 with the purpose of providing quality hygiene products to the Filipino market. After 23 years and now with 2,000, the company still upholds its legacy of producing excellent hygiene products that ensure the health and safety of every Filipino family.
Known for its hygiene and paper products Sanicare, Femme, Cheers, Jade and Naturale, SCPA continuously innovates its brands and offerings, in order to meet the different needs of the local market, assuring Filipinos that the raw materials used are free of harmful chemicals and bleaches.
Despite the success of the enterprise, the Sio family remains certain that their accomplishments have all been through God’s grace. In return, they continue to abide by the philosophy that as faithful stewards, they give importance to nurturing relationship with the employees and stakeholders as well as caring for the environment.
